Group Selecting Assets (Web)

Group Select allows you to organize one or more workspace assets, which is useful when you want to simultaneously change multiple assets – such as aligning, duplicating, or moving.

There are three ways to group select assets:

  1. Ensure pan mode is turned off. Click and drag your mouse pointer to form a border around multiple assets.
  2. Shift + Click to select each asset individually, allowing you to group them in :pan: Pan mode.
Note: This action changes navigation from Pan mode to :select_blue_: Select mode.

A blue border forms around the individual assets and the assets as a group. In addition, a toolbar of options appears.
  3. You can also group select assets using the lasso tool to trace a free-form line.

To group select using the lasso tool:

  1. Press L on your keyboard.
  2. Your mouse cursor becomes a crosshair with a lasso/loop to indicate the tool’s activation. Click and drag your mouse.
  3. Any assets that fall within the shaded area you trace become surrounded by a blue boundary box. This means they are selected.
  4. Press L on your keyboard to exit from lasso tool mode again.

Performing Actions on Grouped Assets

After you group select assets, you can move them simultaneously by dragging the highlighted grouped assets.

For a group of mixed assets (in other words, a group of different types of assets, such as images, notecards, text, and shapes), the associated toolbar allows you to perform additional actions.

Group Selecting Like Assets

When you group select a group consisting of only one type of native Bluescape assets, the available options are different. For example, you can perform specific actions on a group of only shapes, only text, or only notecards.

BlueProTip: From the Shape or Notecard Toolbars, you can open the Text Toolbar. When multiple shapes or notecards are selected, you can :add_text: (Edit text), even when the group selection contains both shapes and notecards.

This allows you to perform bulk actions on assets to modify them simultaneously, saving time by avoiding the need to change them individually.

After you group select a group of shapes, the following toolbar displays:

Click to view options for Shapes
  • Shapes – Change each shape into a different shape. For example, change a group of 10 squares into 10 circles.

Resizing Group Selected Assets

You can easily resize assets when you group select them. This allows you to adjust the size of multiple assets simultaneously.

Note: You may bulk resize any workspace asset except for the following:

  • Smart Grids
  • Unconnected lines

To resize group selected assets:

  1. Group select the assets you want to resize.
  2. A blue border with anchor points encloses the assets. Click one of the anchor points and drag outward or inward to adjust the size to scale.

You can return the assets to their original size at any time. See Placing Assets in a Workspace.

Add an Asset to Grouped Assets

To add an asset to an existing asset group, click and drag the new asset to the destination and re-group.

Remove an Asset from Grouped Assets

To remove an asset from the asset group, click and drag the selected asset (move to another part of the workspace) or use click :more_options: (More) to delete.

Deselect a Group of Assets

Click anywhere in the workspace outside the selected group to deselect an asset group.

Note About Object Selection

If a workspace contributor selects a group of objects and does not deselect them and leaves the workspace, the selection remains for 30 minutes before the workspace automatically unselects those objects.
