Group Selecting Assets

Group select allows you to organize one or more workspace assets, which is useful when you want to simultaneously change multiple assets – such as aligning, duplicating, or moving.

Two ways to group select content:

Using select mode :select:

  1. Ensure you are in select mode by selecting :select: (Select) so it has a blue background. :select_blue_:

  2. Click and drag your mouse pointer over the content to form a border around the material.

Selecting in pan mode :pan:

If you prefer Pan mode, you can still group select without moving to select mode on the workspace toolbar.

  1. Hold down “Shift” on your keyboard, and click+ drag your cursor over the content you wish to group select.

  2. Continuing to hold down “Shift” on your keyboard, you can select individual assets to add to your group selection.

Performing actions on grouped assets

After you group select assets, you can move them simultaneously by dragging the highlighted grouped assets.

For a group of mixed assets (in other words, a group of different types of assets, such as images, notecards, text, and shapes), the associated toolbar allows you to perform additional actions.

Group selecting like assets

When you select a group consisting of only one type of native Bluescape asset, the available options are different. For example, you can perform specific actions on a group of only shapes, only text, or only notecards.

BlueProTip: You can open the Text Toolbar from the Shape or Notecard toolbars. When multiple shapes or notecards are selected, you can :add_text: (Edit text), even when the group selection contains both shapes and notecards.

This allows you to perform bulk actions on assets to modify them simultaneously, saving time by avoiding the need to change them individually.

Shapes

After you select a group of shapes, the following toolbar displays:

:add_text: Edit text formatting in each shape in the group.
:present: Present each item in the group in full-screen.
:pin: Pin group to the workspace background, making it stationary.
:left_align: Organize and align the assets along a horizontal, vertical line, or grid.

Resizing and rotating group selected assets

You can easily resize and rotate assets simultaneously when you group select them.

Note: You may bulk resize any workspace asset except for Smart Grids.

To resize group selected assets:

  1. Group select the assets you want to resize.

  2. A blue border with anchor points encloses the assets. Click one of the anchor points and drag outward or inward to adjust the size to scale. Or select and drag :rotate: (Rotate) to rotate the grouped objects.

You can return the assets to their original size at any time. See Placing Assets in a Workspace.

Add an asset to a selected group

To add an asset to an existing selected group, hold “Shift” and select the object you want to add to the selection.

Remove an asset from grouped assets

To remove an asset from the selected group, hold “Shift” and select the object you want to remove from the selection.

Deselect a group of assets

Click anywhere in the workspace outside the selected group to deselect.

Note about object selection

Suppose a workspace contributor selects a group of objects, does not deselect them, and becomes idle. In that case, the selection remains for 30 minutes before the workspace automatically unselects those objects.

Now, go try it in your workspace! :bluescape_home:
