Configuring Your AV Permissions and Settings

Before using Bluescape, you may need to grant specific permissions in your Microsoft Windows or Mac OS Settings.

Note: If you are working in an admin-controlled environment, you may need to contact your IT department to enable these settings on your behalf.

Microsoft Windows Users

On Windows:

  1. Right-click the Windows Start menu in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen.
  2. Click the Settings menu option.
  3. Search for Camera in the search field and select Camera privacy settings in the search results.
  4. Under the Allow Desktop Apps to access your camera section, ensure the toggle for Bluescape is turned on.

Mac OS Users

To enable the required settings for users with Mac OS:

  1. Access the Mac Settings menu.
  2. Select Security and Privacy.
  3. Select the Privacy tab.
  4. Under Allow the apps below to access your camera., make sure that the check box next to Bluescape is selected.

Once your system permissions are enabled, you can configure your in-app AV settings before you join a meeting or while in the meeting.

Configuring your AV settings before a meeting

If you’ve been invited to a meeting or are starting your own, the Join meeting dialogue box appears before you join.

  1. Click :settings: (Audio Visual Settings).
  2. A dialogue box appears. Use the Microphone, Speaker, and Camera drop-down menus to configure your settings. You can also toggle Use Noise Filter ON and OFF, which softens background noise. By default, Use Noise Filter is toggled ON.

Configuring your AV settings during a meeting

  1. Click :more_options: (More Options) in the bottom toolbar.
  2. A drop-down menu appears. Select A/V settings.

     
  3. The same dialogue box as above appears. Use the Microphone, Speaker, and Camera drop-down menus to configure your settings. You can also toggle Use Noise Filter ON and OFF, which softens background noise.

Troubleshooting your AV settings

First, verify the sound is configured as expected in the OS, browser, and Bluescape.

Check the OS Audio Default Setting

Use the Windows search for Sound Settings, and select the correct output/input device from the drop-down.

Check the Browser Audio Default Setting:

  1. At the top-right of your browser window, select the Chrome menu (⋮).
  2. Select Settings from the menu.
  3. In the Setting search box, type Audio.
  4. Locate the microphone in the list.
  5. Select the down arrow to expand the microphone section.
  6. Verify the desired device is set to default.
  7. Additionally, check if the Ask before accessing (recommended) is not enabled.

How to adjust A/V before joining a meeting in Bluescape

Depending on the browser setting in step 7 above. When joining a meeting in the WebClient, a popup appears, asking which sound/mic device you would like to use in the meeting. Ensure the correct output device from the drop-down is selected.

How to update the Audio Setting within the Meeting

When you enter the Bluescape meeting screen to start a new meeting.

  1. Click the :settings: icon in the tools menu at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select the desired audio devices.

Note that if you cannot select your device from the drop-down, the OS or browser either does not see the device or was not selected in the browser popup window.

From within an ongoing meeting

  1. Access your AV Settings
       a. In the meeting toolbar menu, select the “triple dots” (…)
       b. Highlight the “settings.”
       c. Select “A/V Setting”
       d. Verify the desired device is selected.

Additional troubleshooting options

  1. Try an incognito/private browser window
  2.    a. Click on the Menu icon in the upper right corner of the screen. (three little dots)
       b. Click the New Incognito Window (Chrome) or New InPrivate Window (Edge).
  3. Try a different browser such as Firefox
  4. Verify the Web browser is running the latest version
       a. Click on the Menu icon in the upper right corner of the screen. (three little dots)
       b. Click on Help , and then About .
       c. Verify the browser is fully updated & running the latest version.
  5. Clear the Web browser cache from the beginning of time.
       a. Click the menu (three dots in the upper-right corner).
       b. Select
       c. Select Clear Browsing Data from the left-hand side. Set the Time Range set to All Time.        Check-mark Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files and select Clear        Data.
       d. If on a Windows computer, close and re-open Chrome to save your changes. If on an Apple       computer, go to the Chrome menu on the top menu bar and select Quit for the changes to take       effect.
  6. Verify your systems operating system is fully updated (i.e., Windows or Mac)
  7. Do you have any Web browser extensions enabled? If so, do you notice a difference when disabling them?
  8. Click the menu (three dots in the upper-right corner).
  9. Click Settings > Extensions
  10. Reset the browser defaults
  11. Click the menu (three dots in the upper-right corner).
  12. Click Settings > Reset Settings

Tip: I use Bluescape workspaces with Google Chrome and didn’t notice a recent browser update (example, version 109.0.5414.75). I could no longer enable video during Bluescape Meet calls (audio/mic was fine). Once I updated my browser, by clicking on the three-dot (vertical ellipsis) located at upper-right corner, video was working again.
