Commenting on Assets (Web)

Comments allow you to leave notes or messages, communicating with workspace collaborators. For example, you can comment on an asset, and collaborators can respond – thereby, beginning a conversation thread.

Create a comment

To create an asset comment:

  1. Click the asset on which you want to comment. The asset becomes highlighted, and a toolbar comprised of icons appears below the asset.

  2. From the toolbar, click the Screen Shot 2021-11-01 at 4.39.55 PM icon. The Comments panel opens to the right of the workspace.

  3. Type your comment in the Write a comment field at the bottom of this panel.

  4. Press Enter on your keyboard or click the Screen Shot 2021-11-01 at 4.40.54 PM (Enter) icon at the end of the Write a comment field to send this note upon message completion. If you simply click outside the Write a comment field, your message will not be retained. The Comment panel displays your comment along with the name of the author and comment date/time.

  5. Click the Comment icon or the up arrow to trigger the display of the Write a reply field, allowing message recipients to type a response.

You can click the Screen Shot 2021-11-01 at 4.39.55 PM (Comments) icon at the top right of the workspace to view a history of comments specific to workspace assets, selecting each comment to view greater detail.

The Mark all as read button in this Comments panel clears all comment notifications.

You can also click the back button when leaving a comment to return to the comment history panel.

Note: Submitting an asset comment does not generate an email notification to collaborators outside of the workspace, unless you @mention (at mention) a user – as detailed in the next section. In addition, comments do not appear in the Bluescape portal message Inbox; comments appear only as they pertain to the asset and within the Comment panel, which is accessible via the Comment icon at the top right of the workspace.

@Mention Users

You can @mention users in a comment, which sends them an email notification. You can also @mention groups of users, if your Organization Admin has enabled groups.

Edit a Comment

You can edit comments after you have created them. You can also delete them, providing you more control over your interactions in a workspace.

To edit a comment:

  1. Create a comment from the steps above.

  2. From your comment in the Comments panel, click the Screen Shot 2021-11-01 at 4.11.27 PM (more options) icon.

  3. A context menu opens. Click the Edit option.

  4. The comment field becomes editable. Change your comment as needed.

  5. When you are finished, click Save .

Your comment is modified.

Note : You can only edit comments you created.

Delete a comment

Both comment authors and workspace owners can delete comments. To delete a comment:

  1. From your comment in the Comments panel, click the Screen Shot 2021-11-01 at 4.11.27 PM (more options) icon.
  2. A context menu opens. Click the Delete option.
  3. The Delete Comment pop-up message opens. Click Delete to confirm.

Your comment is removed. If it was a parent comment with nested replies beneath it, the replies will remain, as pictured below:

Note : You can undo and redo edited and deleted comments. For more information, see .

You can also view when a comment was created or deleted (if it is a deleted parent comment). To view the comment information:

  1. From your comment in the Comments panel, click the Screen Shot 2021-11-01 at 4.11.27 PM (more options) icon.
  2. A context menu opens. Click the Info option.

    The date the comment was created or deleted displays.
